Christina has over thirty years of experience in teaching ballet and has taught everyone from beginners to professional dancers, well-known actors, such Ben Daniels, and professional athletes of Rhythmic Sportive Gymnastics.

Christina started her ballet training at the age of six. At the age of 17, she went to Greece on a scholarship to study dance and dance teaching at the Greek State School of Dance. There, she was taught by renowned ballet masters of the Vaganova technique, like Gesh Mihov, Gallina Bokoeva, and Moriana Risova. After her graduation, Christina danced in a variety of classical and contemporary productions in Germany, Greece, Hungary, and Bulgaria. In 1995, Christina was awarded a scholarship for studies with the Ballet Austin Academy. She danced soloist roles with the Company of Ballet Austin in such well-known classics as Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Nutcracker, etc., and taught ballet at the Academy in the Youth and the Pre-professional Division and taught company classes.

As a teenager, Christina was one of the most successful rhythmic gymnasts of Cyprus. She was a champion in Rhythmic Sportive Gymnastics and was twice named “Athlete of the Year”. Later, she became a choreographer and coach for the Cypriot team and accompanied the Cypriot delegation of the Rhythmic Sportive Gymnastics Team to many International Games including the Olympic Games of Barcelona in 1992.

After moving to London in 2001, Christina took up the position of head of ballet at D&B School of Performing Arts. There, she taught ballet and body conditioning and choreographed for the school’s productions. She also taught as a guest teacher for Birkbeck College and was a ballet teacher for Morley College until 2008. Christina also taught for the Danceworks Ballet Academy where, apart from teaching ballet and body conditioning, she also choreographed and set works of great choreographers for the Academy’s productions. Christina is teaching open ballet classes at Danceworks and private classes in Ballet, Body Conditioning, and PBT in London. Christina also studied Classics at the Open University and was awarded her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2010.

Class Description

Do you want to limit your injury risk, while also building strength to become a better dancer?

This fitness class will help you substantially improve your posture and correct any issues relating to your body alignment. It is very easy to create bad habits in ballet, so changing these habits often requires retraining muscle memory. Christina’s Posture Power with PBT elements class will not only help you build up more strength and flexibility, but will also help you train the muscle memory required for automatically performing movements the right way. This class will be accompanied by music.

With Christina’s experience as a coach, ballet teacher and approved PBT instructor, she has now put together a class that will help you limit your injury risk and become a stronger and better dancer.

Posture Power with PBT elements is a general level class and therefore suitable for those, who either wish to improve their ballet technique or simply improve their fitness level. It is also a perfect preparation for her 11:30 Int/Adv ballet class which takes place right after the Posture Power with PBT elements class.

If you have any questions about the class, please get in touch with Christina by email [email protected]

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is an innovative programme which was developed by Marie Walton- Mahon in order to help dancers and students improve their technique.
