Danceworks Ballet Academy Teacher Training – training in ballet excellence
International Ballet Curriculum© (IBC) Teacher Training
Danceworks believes in raising the quality of ballet training.
Every level challenges and develops students physically, mentally and artistically. Classes focus on layering precise movements and positions to ensure that students develop flawless ballet technique. Performing helps develop an integral part of the IBC training.
Teacher training instruction starts in the classroom with the youngest students around age 5. It is a set curriculum and also a philosophy of learning the basics through a series of building blocks that progress through time and demonstrated within the course. Our focus is to immerse teachers in the IBCurriculum; and to fully understand the best and latest practices in teaching techniques from top schools around the world, in particular, the School of American Ballet founded by George Balanchine.
Danceworks is also accredited by the British Accreditation Council as a provider of short courses and Unesco CID. There will also be opportunities to associate with the IBCurriculum and Danceworks as your teaching method.
The IBC offers certificates for teachers as well as students in conjunction with Danceworks, Mayfair. It is a non-exam based programme, therefore giving the love of dance to all children of mixed ability and economic means.
Our teacher training is a 2 weeks programme, with an in-depth breakdown of ballet methodology for the first 4 years of ballet training.
The course class consists of teaching material, explanations and lectures, a daily observance of beginner ballet students as they progress to advanced beginner students during the 2-weeks. Certification of completion will be awarded.
This course focuses on giving teachers information to reevaluate how they teach, rather than focusing on a specific style of schooling. The IBCurriculum breaks down the whole class starting with barre work, and progressing to center work, adagio, allegro and pirouette kinesthetically.

I worked a few years alongside Kim White and I could see the quality of her work and the progress of the students with the IBC classes. She transmits the values of this art with love and respect, and with a limitless passion.
The International Ballet Curriculum is just that – a curriculum of training for young dancers that prepares them for the multi-faceted world of ballet as we know it today. With its solid technique-based classes and pre-professional performing experiences, IBC students gain the self-discipline and confidence necessary for whatever profession they choose.
I took over as Director of the school in Switzerland founded by Kim White. Her students were trained with the IBC training method and all of them had excellent technical skills with an amazing joy of dancing.
Children educated in the IBC system of training possess a knowledge and awareness of ballet that is exceptional. They are sure to succeed in today’s dance world.
Young dancers would benefit to look into DANCEWORKS, IBC classes to ensure rapid progress towards a professional dance career and importantly, a strong focus on performance skills.
