Danceworks Summer School – Ballet Summer Intensive course in London

Tuesday 21st July – Friday 31st July 2020 (day off Sunday 26th July)

Danceworks Ballet Academy offers a unique two-week programme, held in our London studios for young dancers. It is founded on the belief that the arts have a unique power to motivate and engage young dancers to achieve excellence. Classes are taught by internationally renowned dancers from leading ballet companies.

At our 2019 programme, we welcomed guest teachers Erico Montes, Julia Conway, Fabia Vasconcellos and Ivan Putrov.

Previous guest teachers have also included Michaela DePrince, Melissa Hamilton, Antonia Franceschi, Nathalie Harrison and Dominic Antonucci.


The focus of our Summer School is to identify and develop young talent to work towards the highest level of classical ballet and enable those who want to enter into a professional career in any of the various forms of dance.

All classes will be taught by teachers of the very highest calibre, from our faculty as well as guest teachers/current professional dancers and teachers from world renown ballet companies such as The Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet and Dutch National Ballet.

Course details

The day will start with a two hour technique class. A one hour lunch break. Afternoon classes will consist of boys/mens, pointe work or classes focusing on pirouettes, petit and grand allegro. A short 30-minute break. Lastly, a two hour performance class in preparation for the Danceworks performance on the final day.

Technique class

Students are placed in classes according to ability. This instills an undeniable drive and commitment to raise the level of our students. They will refine and perfect their technique, flexibility and movement skills with an emphasis on artistic expression and musicality. Classes are very hands on, molding and shaping each individual with an ideology that rewards dependent upon energy, focus and repetition. The syllabus also focuses on improving coordination and concentration along with expanding dance vocabulary in order to work beyond the student’s current potential.

Performance classes

An enriching opportunity for young dancers to experience the process of choreography that is essential for the growth of any professional career. All the choreography will be tailored to suit the student’s strengths and artistic personality. Final performance at RADA theatre, London.

Location & Environment

The Summer School will be held in Danceworks studios in our Mayfair building. Students experience mixing with dancers of all ages and genres. Our staff team is friendly and capable and the Summer School chaperones will ensure the students’ wellbeing at all times. The ethos of the Summer School encourages polite and kind behaviour and is an environment where friendship can flourish.

Age range

The Summer School is open for students aged 6 and over, up to pre-professional level.


The price is £725 plus a £20 registration fee.
