Danceworks Online Ballet Summer Intensive

Monday 20th July – Friday 31st July 2020

(weekend off Sat 25th and Sun 26th)

We have transitioned this year’s Summer Intensive 2020 into a virtual format with minimal compromises in the breadth of the syllabus or the richness of the training. Our faculty members have been honing their skills teaching through the videoconferencing platform Zoom, and they are eager to put this new expertise into practice this summer. We have developed a Monday through Friday class schedule that closely parallels our usual schedule with an amazing faculty and guest teachers. Exercises and combinations will be tailored to be appropriate and safe for a home environment.  A performance will be filmed for our students to enjoy in the future.

Masterclasses and Workshops

Every day, we will offer a masterclass or workshop, taught by internationally renowned dancers and leading industry professionals:

Introduction

The focus of our Summer Intensive is to identify and develop young talent to work towards the highest level of classical ballet and enable those who want to enter into a professional career in any of the various forms of dance.

All classes will be taught by teachers of the very highest calibre, from our faculty as well as guest teachers/current professional dancers and teachers from world-renowned ballet companies such as The Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal BalletEnglish National Ballet and American Ballet Theatre.

Course details

All timings are BST (British Summer Time) and classes will be taught online.

For students based in the USA or South America, we are also offering a special timetable to suit this time zone. If you are based in this area, please let us know so we can send the schedule to accommodate your region.

The benefits of Zoom classes are that the student can be seen and corrected as if in a studio, by teachers who care passionately about progress. This will require that they work to the high standards of our classes which will motivate them to work towards excellence.  Students will need access to the internet as well as a space in their homes where they can view and follow the classes. Class numbers will be limited.

The Summer Intensive is open for students aged 6 and over, up to pre-professional level.
