Biography
Born in Russia, Dmitri Gruzdyev trained at the Vaganova Ballet Academy. He won first prize at the first Vaganova Ballet competition in 1988.
Dmitri joined English National Ballet in September 1993 following a successful season with the Kirov Ballet at the London Coliseum in the summer. He has danced in The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Giselle, The Nutcracker, Romeo & Juliet, Coppélia and Cinderella. In 1999 he performed the Pas De Deux from Don Quixote with Tamara Rojo at the Explosive Dance Gala at The Royal Albert Hall.
In 2008 Dmitri appeared as both Lescaut and Des Grieux in Kenneth MacMillan’s Manon. During 2009 he danced The Poet in Chopiniana, The Golden Slave in Schéhérazade and appeared as Nureyev’s double in the BBC film “Margot”. Recent roles include Hans van Manen’s Trois Gnossiennes and David Dawson’s A Million Kisses to my Skin.
Class Description
The classes are geared to help dancers maintain and further their technique, strengthen the core centre, work on their musicality and speed while at the same time investigate and explore deeper level of their artistry. The class is based on the Russian ballet style, teaching dance, musicality, and technique in a fun and engaging manner. For age 14 years and over.
