Biography

Lisa Marie trained at both the Royal Ballet School White Lodge and Upper school inc. dancing with The Royal Ballet before graduating to dance with London City Ballet directed by Harold King for 3 years. She moved to Denmark to dance principal roles with Peter Schaufuss ballet, including the White Swan and Aurora as well as having roles created for her by Schaufuss such as Pricilla Presley in ‘The King’. She then returned to English National Ballet for 10 years dancing, corps de ballet, soloist and principal roles such as Clara (Nutcracker-Christopher Hampson/Wayne Eagling), Alice (Alice in Wonderland- Derek Deane)  Bluebird, Song Fairy, White Cat, Red Riding Hood, Silver (Sleeping Beauty-Peter Wright). Autumn Fairy, Summer Fairy (Cinderella), Gerda (Snow Queen-Michael Corder), plus roles in Romeo and Juliet, Manon (Sir Kenneth MacMillan), Etudes, and Rite of Spring, amongst many others and in new works by choreographers Will Tuckett, Wayne McGregor, Michael Corder, Christopher Hampson and more.

After leaving ENB, Lisa was a guest principal with Ballet Ireland creating the role of Juliet in Morgan Runacre-Temple’s Romeo and Juliet and danced in galas abroad where she also started to assist choreographers.

Lisa then studied for a level 6 diploma in classical dance teaching ( as well as a Pilates with BBO and later RAD and Royal Ballet Inspire series and has been teaching all ages for 15 years and is Director of her own student company The London Performance Company where she has also choreographed on her dancers and stage numerous ballets.  Lisa is and has also taught in vocational schools English National Ballet School and Elmhurst Ballet School and colleges including musical theatre schools Sylvia Young (London), Italia Contis, The Dang and Urdang and Dancebox theatreworks  where she teaches and choreographs and has taught Cecchetti, RAD, Vaganova, and creates her own choreography.

 Lisa enjoys teaching all ages of  students and professionals. She is also a fully qualified Pilates, PBT, PT and Reiki master teacher, practises meditation regularly and puts well being and safety as well as specificity of classical ballet at the forefront of her teaching.

Class Description

Absolute Beginner Ballet

A class to learn the fundamentals of classical ballet and practise ballet technique from the origins of the work. Including an introduction to artistry, musicality and terminology and specific technical exercises to support your body during the learning  process. A safe, effective , flowing and enjoyable class to start your ballet journey with ex professional ballerina and qualified teacher -(Royal Ballet/English National Ballet/RAD)

Pointe for Beginners

This class is for those dancers who have never tried pointe before, as well as dancers who may have had a break from pointe and want to get back into it slowly. In this class you will learn the basics in a safe and effective environment . This class is not suitable for absolute beginners.

This class is also suitable for those who are more experienced but would like a slower class to clean the basics and gain greater strength in their technique with tailored exercises to strengthen feet/toes/ankles and legs. Taught by a professionally qualified teacher from Royal/ENB/RAD.
