Biography

Katya Bourvis is a London Based Choreographer and Movement Director with an extensive international performance career. Classically trained at English National Ballet School, she has danced for English National Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet, Aalto Ballet Essen, and the Royal Opera House.

She has worked under the direction of some of the finest choreographers within Ballet and contemporary dance, such as Cranko, David Dawson, Heinz Spoerli, Ohad Naharin, and Micheal Keegan – Dolan.

Since embarking on a freelance career as a choreographer and movement director she has worked within the film, music promos, branded content, and editorial. Her clientele includes Bremont, Chanel, and Agile Films.

In 2020, Katya was awarded a residency at Sadler’s Wells. In her own choreographic work, she takes a multi-disciplined approach, using visual art and sound design to creatively explore contemporary experience; she is currently directing and choreographing a series of her own dance films.

Class Description

Katya’s class is an energetic technique class, a fusion of classical ballet and contemporary dance, influenced by her international career. The class incorporates choreographic phrases using the foundation of classical ballet to explore, prioritising musical sensibility, quality and intuitive moment, and nourishing self-expression. She aims to offer nurturing and safe environment where participants can sense and arrive in the body, fin-tune technique and reconnect to their artistry.
