Class description

Introduction to contemporary dance is a course for anyone who is interested in gaining a better understanding of what contemporary dance is and which principles are used in the different contemporary techniques. Participants will be part of a safe, positive and supportive environment, where everyone can feel free to learn, explore and discover new ways of moving through different contemporary dance styles. Classes will focus on studying specific movement vocabulary, correct alignment, improving coordination, memory and musicality. We will work with warm up sequences and centre work, some crossings to travel through the space and we will implement some improvisation, choreography and partnering. Dancers will study a fusion of contemporary dance styles, with a main focus on Release and Floorwork and a brief introduction to essential elements of Cunningham and Graham techniques. Creativity, physicality and openness are the key principles for this 6 -weeks journey.
