Class Description

Classical Ballet (Beginners)

This class focuses on key movement principles of ballet with emphasis on correct placement, alignment, turn out and épaulement, seeking always to allow these to arise through a developing sense of movement. The forms of the steps and slow tempos are an excellent way of developing the use of the body, legs, and feet. The concentration of the beginner class exercises based on the Vaganova method is characterized by a particular musicality, precision of movement, and clarity of line.

Classical Ballet (Intermediate)

A moving class created for students with previous ballet experience and familiarity with ballet terminology. Progress through barre and center work designed to increase strength, flexibility, and technique and dance through graceful combinations. Special attention to epaulement (turning of the shoulders and upper body), correct training of the arms (port de bras), fluidity, placement, coordination with the head and all movements and precise coordination of the whole body, working as one unit.

Recommended for those with around one year’s worth of knowledge of basic ballet steps or for returning students looking to go back to the basics.

Pointe Technique (Beginners)

This class is for adult students who are ready to strengthen their feet in preparation for pointe or in their first or second year of pointe. Class includes a basic pointe barre and for those who are ready, basic centre pointe work.

Pointe Technique (Intermediate)

This class builds from the Beginners Pointe and works on more challenging steps including turns from the corner, relevés on one leg in the centre and enchaînements including pirouettes and fouettés.
