Japanese dancer Fumi Kaneko is a Principal of The Royal Ballet. She joined the Company during the 2010/11 Season and was promoted to First Artist in 2012, Soloist in 2013, First Soloist in 2018, and Principal, 2021.

Kaneko trained at the Jinushi Kaoru Ballet School, Osaka. She won gold medal at the Varna International Ballet Competition, 2008, and silver medals at the Moscow International Ballet Competition, 2009, and the USA International Ballet Competition, 2010. That year she joined the Jinushi Kaoru Ballet Company, where her roles included Clara and the Sugar Plum Fairy (The Nutcracker) and Kitri (Don Quixote).

Kaneko’s repertory with The Royal Ballet includes Odette/Odile, Juliet, Kitri, Sugar Plum Fairy, Princess Aurora and Lilac Fairy (The Sleeping Beauty), Gypsy Girl (The Two Pigeons), Myrtha (Giselle), Countess Larisch and Mitzi Caspar (Mayerling), Hermione (The Winter’s Tale), Polyhymnia (Apollo), Mama Elena (Like Water for Chocolate), third moment Concerto and roles in Viscera, The Four Temperaments, Sweet Violets, Limen, Infra, ‘Diana and Actaeon’ (Metamorphosis: Titian 2012), Woolf Works, Asphodel Meadows, Symphony in C, Medusa, Dances at a Gathering, Within the Golden Hour, After the Rain and Scènes de ballet. She created roles including The Dante Project and In Our Wishes.

ロイヤル・バレエ団プリンシパルとして活躍する日本人ダンサーの金子扶生さんは、2010/11シーズンに入団し、2012年にファースト・アーティスト、2013年にソリスト、2018年にファースト・ソリスト、2021年にプリンシパルに昇格しました。

金子さんは、大阪の地主薫エコール・ド・バレエでレッスンを受けました。2008年ヴァルナ国際バレエコンクール金賞、2009年モスクワ国際バレエコンクール、2010年USA国際バレエコンクール銀賞受賞。同年、地主薫バレエ団に入団し、『くるみ割り人形』クララ、『ドン・キホーテ』キトリなどに出演しました。

ロイヤル・バレエ団では、オデット/オディール、ジュリエット、キトリ、シュガープラム・フェアリー、オーロラ姫、リラの精（『眠れる森の美女』）、ジプシーガール（『2羽の鳩』）、ミルタ（『ジゼル』）、ラリッシュ伯爵夫人、ミッツィ・カスパール（『メイヤーリング』）、ハーマイオニー（冬物語）、ポリヒムニア（アポロ）、ママ・エレナ（ライク・ウォーター・フォー・チョコレート）、3rd ムーブメント（コンチェルト）演じ、役柄は、他にも、ヴィセラ、4つの気質、スイート・バイオレット、リメン、インフラ、ダイアナとアクテオン（メタモルフォーゼ、2012年）、ウルフ・ワークス、アスフォデル・メドウズ、シンフォニー・イン・C、メデューサ、ダンス・アット・ア・ギャザリング、ウィズイン・ザ・ゴールデン・アワー、アフター・ザ・レイン、シェーヌ・ド・バレエなどがあります。そして、『ダンテ・プロジェクト』と『In Our Wishes』などでは、初演メンバーとして参加しています。
